Breach Overhaul in Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0 – Full Crafting Loop Breakdown from POECURRENCY.com

Breach mechanic underwent a complete overhaul in Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0. The previous process of collecting 300 Breach Splinters to craft a Breachstone has been replaced by a more complex system.

Therefore, not only are all previous methods of crafting Breachstones from Breach Splinters no longer effective, but the way Breachstones are used has also changed.

POECURRENCY.com will guide you through the entire process, from acquiring Breach Splinters to using the newly crafted Breachstones. Let’s take a look.

Step 1 – Understanding Core Mechanic Changes

Prior to Patch 0.5.0, players could directly collect Breach Splinters from Breach encounters, and when the number of shards reached 300, they would automatically craft a Breachstone. For many veteran PoE 2 players, this was a simple and straightforward process that they had used for years.

However, with the release of Return of the Ancients, Grinding Gear Games reworked Breach system. The original Breachstone crafting method has been abandoned, replaced by a completely new multi-step process that requires additional resources, a new hub area, and a full crafting system built around Genesis Tree.

This overhaul introduces new narrative elements, new item types, and significantly changes how players experience Breach content.

Step 2 – Acquiring Breach Splinters

In Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0, Breach Splinters will drop from monsters in your Atlas Breach encounters. These monsters spawn when you trigger Breach hand and pass through an ever-expanding purple circle. As the encounter progresses, you will fight wave after wave of enemies.

Patch 0.5.0 Return of the Ancients introduces three different types of Breach encounters: Breach Hives, Sky Hives, and Fortresses. Each type offers different rewards and challenges, all of which heavily test the player’s combat skills.

However, for more efficient farming of Breach Splinters, focus on higher-level maps that include Breach encounters. The map around Monastery of the Keepers contains Breach encounters, which POECURRENCY.com considers a good place to farm Breach Splinters.

Step 3 – Combining Splinters into Revelatory Wombgift

This step is quite different from before. In Patch 0.5.0, 300 Breach Splinters no longer combine into a Breachstone. Instead, when you have 300 Breach Splinters in your inventory, they will automatically combine into a Revelatory Wombgift.

If your 300 Breach Splinters don’t automatically combine, POECURRENCY.com suggests moving them to your inventory, splitting them into two stacks (e.g., 299 and 1), and then left-clicking one stack and dropping it onto the other to recombine them. This forces the game to recognize a complete group of Breach Splinters and combine them into a Revelatory Wombgift.

Revelatory Wombgift is one of the new item types introduced in PoE 2 patch 0.5.0, and it’s also a key item for crafting Breachstone.

Step 4 – Birthing Breachstone at Genesis Tree

After obtaining Revelatory Wombgift, you must go to Monastery of the Keepers, a new hub area located south of the starting point of Atlas. Genesis Tree is located here, serving as the central crafting station for all Breach-related rewards.

Find Breachstone Womb in the center of Genesis Tree interface. Place your Revelatory Wombgift in this slot, and then pay the required Hiveblood to obtain Breachstone.

Hiveblood will be automatically collected during your PoE 2 Breach encounters. The amount you obtain depends on the number of monsters you kill in those encounters. Therefore, to maximize your Hiveblood acquisition, POECURRENCY.com recommends challenging high-level Breach maps (Tier 14+) and killing as many monsters as possible.

In this situation, we generally choose to speed-farm a build, but this type of build requires a large amount of Currency to create. If you lack funds, you can buy POE2 currency from POECURRENCY.com, which will provide you with the safest and fastest way to acquire it, helping you create a suitable build.

However, the cost of Breachstone is not fixed; it varies depending on the item level of your Revelatory Wombgift. Higher-level Revelatory Wombgifts require more Breachstone. For example, a level-80 Revelatory Wombgift requires 3,411 Hiveblood to hatch.

Lower-level Revelatory Wombgifts have lower hatching costs, so they are more cost-effective if your primary goal is to unlock passive nodes in Genesis Tree rather than acquiring high-level Breachstones.

Step 5 – Using Your Breachstone

In Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0, the use of Breachstones has changed significantly. They are no longer used to enter a single boss encounter, but instead to reveal clusters of Breach Stronghold maps on your Atlas.

When you use a Breachstone in the corresponding area of an Atlas, it reveals a cluster of 5-15 maps with Breach Stronghold mechanic on Atlas. These map clusters are centered around Monastery of the Keepers, but they will also appear in other areas as you explore and reveal more Atlases.

Some areas within an Atlas require multiple Breachstones to unlock, so you may need to craft multiple Breachstones to fully unlock an area. In addition, Breach Strongholds have minimum Waystone Tier requirements: Outer Strongholds require at least Tier 6 Waystones, and Central Strongholds require Waystones of Tier 14 or higher.

This concludes the guide from POECURRENCY.com on how to acquire Breach Splinters, craft, and use Breachstones in PoE 2 Return of the Ancients. The multi-step process, combined with Genesis Tree passive system, creates a more in-depth and rewarding progression path for converting Breach Splinters into Breachstones than the previously simpler conversion.

While this requires more time and effort, it also offers greater customization and control over rewards, making it a welcome innovation for dedicated PoE 2 players.
